Circle at Guildex 70th

The Circle attended the O Gauge Guild's 70th anniversary exhibition at the Staffordshire showground on the 5th/6th Sept, staffed by Chris Dyke & Richard Abbey. The show was well attended (1200 to 1500 on the Saturday) and there were many more layouts this year (some with Welsh themes) as well as a host of traders. We hope that the show may generate some new members for the Circle as a number of membership forms were collected, although from the number of members we met, including the members that were looking after the Scale 7 Group stand there is a strong contingent of 7mm modellers within the Circles membership already.

The show has been a good income boost for the circle too, our sales were up 65% on last year. Our NEW Cambrian Railways Drawings Part 2 book accounted for 52% of the sales and 53% of the sales of Circle books, the rest of the sales income was made up by secondhand books. All these funds help us produce new titles and cover our running costs.

So if you have any books that you can donate for Circle sales or if you can help us with our production of new books or have a book you'd like to publish or see published drop our publications team an email to

Further new books are also very important, as some of our publications are almost out of print and we wish to have new books available for our 50th anniversary year in 2028.

The Circle's attendance at shows is also important for use to make ourselves known and it's also a great way of meeting with our members. But we are still looking for a new Circle exhibition manager to oversee the coordination of shows, bookings and staffing them. You would not have to attend all shows but if you attend a number of them, that always helps. We usually have many willing volunteers but we need someone to oversee and to ensure that everything goes smoothly. If you think you may be able to help or would like to know more please drop a line to either

Francis

or to Simon

We look forward to seeing you at the next Model Railway Show (check our online events listing for the next exhibition/show date).

WRRC 2025 AGM Member Survey

WRRC is seeking input from its members and others about your railway interests, requests and ideas to help us not only build and develop but also to ensure that you get the most from the Circle and your membership.

We are also looking to grow and encourage new members, may be with more recent or contemporary Welsh rail interests, so as to ensure that we can develop and sustain our services and the longevity of the Circle.

Hence, we are looking for your input and ideas, along with hopefully your interest in either assisting or possibly volunteering for one of our vacant posts or with some of our activities.

NB: We will not be quoting your name publicly on any responses we publish.

All responses will be aggregated to establish the strength of interest in any area. Hence, it’s important to get a reply from all or as many members as possible.

The Membership Survey can be completed online by using this link
