The Saundersfoot Railway
The Saundersfoot Railway was a industrial narrow-gauge tramway built to a 4 foot gauge between 1830 and 1834 to carry coal to the harbour at Saundersfoot, Pembrokeshire. The mines,
situated near Begelly and Stepaside were some of the most Westerly Anthracite coal mines in South Wales. It was the first example in Pembrokeshire of the joint
construction of a harbour and railway, and remained independent until it closed in 1939.
