Last week I travelled to Merthyr and Aberdare to see the new works. The double lines through Quakers Yard; between Pentrebach and Merthyr; between Mountain Ash and Fernhill; and between Cwmbach and Aberdare are now all in use with new signals.
Does anyone have the commissioning date of the Core Valley Lines Integrated Control Centre and the closing date of Abercynon signal box
I have found, on www.railengineer.co.uk/cardiff-area-resignalling, a note that Heath Junction, Ystrad Mynach and Bargoed signal boxes (not on the CVL) were closed in June 2013. Is this correct ?

Re: Core Valleys reconstruction
I've just seen in Nation.Cymru that there are now wires to Aberdare and Merthyr. Presumably they are energized, probably for test running, or perhaps to prevent theft.

Radyr and Abercynon signal boxes were closed on 2 May 2023, replaced by Core Valley Lines Integrated Control Centre.
Heath Junction, Ystrad Mynach and Bargoed signal boxes were closed on 6 September 2013, replaced by WROC.
I got these dates from www.railcodes.org.uk
