Rhymney Line coaches circa 1964

What stock was used to carry passenger traffic on the Rhymney Valley line in around 1964? I was born in that year but only remember the old diesel rail-car units: were coaches still in use at that time, if not when did they stop?

I recently found this picture (undated) in The Junction pub in Hengoed showing a loco of the type I will shortly possess (in G1) pulling coaches over the viaduct:

Thanks for the very complete reply! Yes, 6641 is correct. I'll see if I can source a G1 DMU... Would the coaches still being used on the Rhymney Valley line in 1958 be standard BR livery 24 ton coaches?

I got the 24 ton figure from a picture in the Rhymney Railway volume 1 (John Hutton); page 86 has a picture dated 6th June 1953 with caption "built as Rhymney Railway 24-ton coach in 1920"; then I conflated that with BR, my mistake.

Thanks very much for all the useful data, I'll see if I can source something of that sort. I'll ask some further questions about DMUs in a separate thread.
