Swansea Railway Modellers Group open day

Post by Wagonworks_andy »

On the 30th November [Wednesday], the club is inviting a number of groups 'sympathetic' to railways or railway modelling to visit our premises. A formal timetable has yet to be drawn up but it would look something like;

11.00 - arrive / meet / introductions / look around
12.15 ish - buffet lunch / socialise
2.00 ish - illustrated lecture on The Mumbles Railway
3.30 ish - look around / take opportunity to run any model railway stock that visitors may have brought with them for an outing
Rest of day and into the evening - socialise / meet members / run stock / etc.

Times to be firmed up in due course.

We also propose holding a pre-Christmas stock sale of mostly OO / N gauge stock for members and any visitors who may be interested. We sell at extremely competitive prices and all proceeds go entirely into club funds. We have layouts in various stages of construction on three floors, a well-stocked library and an extremely large test track laid in three gauges. Visitors will be most welcome to use it.

On-site parking will be available but car sharing wherever possible is highly recommended [actually, preferred, if possible] as room may be at a premium.

We can offer five or six places to your members - maybe members from further west who may find it difficult to attend your more usual meetings."

If there is anyone in the Swansea, Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion areas who is interested please contact me at secretary@wrrc.org.uk. There are only five or six places available. Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend myself due to work commitments, but it looks like an informative day with opportunities for any modellers to run some stock and spend some money!

Best regards,
