Great Western Stations - Talley Road Halt

From Michael Denman's The Lanelly Railway and Dock Company, the Heart of Wales Pioneer:
"Passenger services on the Vale of Towy began on 1st April of the following year (1858), a month after goods traffic. Three intermediate stations had been built at Llanwrda, Llangadog and Glanrhyd. Talley Road was opened a few months later."

For passenger station openings (and closings) the first port of call should always be Michael Quick's magisterial tome - published by the Railway & Canal Historical Society - Railway Passenger Stations in Great Britain - A Chronology and its supplements. From these you will find "TALLEY ROAD: wooden platform ordered 11 May 1859 (source: local press). Bradshaw showed a Sunday-only service August 1859 (suspect?)." Bradshaw showed a full service from September 1859 (perhaps slightly behind events?).

Perhaps because it was for the Vale of Towy to get their line ready for traffic the Llanelly Railway minutes at the National Archives, as they relate to the Vale of Towy, do not specifically mention any issues relevant to opening any station except Glanrhyd. The minutes indicate that the VoT opened to passengers on 1st April 1858. The minutes record that Glanrhyd station was to open on a trial basis on 1st May. There's a note that the new platform was inspected on 11th May and there's nothing to indicate that it hadn't been in use since the 1st as planned.

The doubt about Talley Road arises only because it seems that a 'booking constable' wasn't employed at the opening but was in place before July.
A payment for Talley Road station of £70/5/2d was made in the May/July period of 1859.

I now have Michael Quicks' book which is proving invaluable.
But it is throwing up more anomalies of opening dates which have been printed in various publications over the years.

Ah, but Michael Quick shows the provenance for his dates (secondary sources sometimes) and is receptive to corrections where sound and better provenance can be demonstrated - don't bother telling him that some other book says something different unless that source has good provenance.
