I recently came across this book - The Alexandra Docks, Newport, by Edelin De la Praudiere 1914 at Gerald Baker's on Abebooks (https://www.abebooks.co.uk/servlet/Book ... 1_14-_-bdp). Is anyone familiar with the book? At £185 it's a bit pricey for me!

Interestingly, I couldn't find this item in the on line catalogues of the British Library or the National Library of Wales.

When searching for second-hand books I normally use Bookfinder.com as it’s usually far more comprehensive than ABE, although, perhaps unsurprisingly, it found just the one copy for this book, that offered by Gerald Baker.
I have come across this Edelin de la Praudiere before. In January 1912 he made an offer to the Directors of the PTR&D Co. to provide 5000 free booklets describing the Company’s undertaking, which was accepted in January 1913. The outcome was the 72pp Port Talbot Railway and Docks Co., Handbook of Rates, Dry Dock Accommodation and General Information, January, which in due course was reprinted by Black Dwarf Lightmoor. In 1919 he compiled and published Port Talbot and its Progress, pp. 1-58 in English, pp. 59-72 in French, plus 52pp. of adverts, presumably where his income came from.
I would hazard that his Alexandra Docks book is extremely rare and probably worth the asking price.
