Visit to the Foxfield Railway

OK nothing to do with Welsh Railways but WRRC members may be interested in a visit to the Foxfield Railway which is being organised by the North West Group of the Railway & Canal Historical Society

Sunday 7th August. NW Group visit to the Foxfield Railway

This visit will include riding in restored original 1870s North Staffs Railway carriages, the Foxfield Railway museum and guided visits to the former colliery served by the railway. It will be an afternoon event commencing at 12:00pm. The cost for the visit will be £8 per person.

All RCHS members, family and anyone interested are invited to this event. However reservations are essential in order to secure a seat in one of the historic NSR carriages

The deadline for making a reservation is Friday 15th July.

Train travel between Stoke and Blythe Bridge is difficult on Sundays: the current timetable shows no trains during the morning. NW Group has arranged for a coach to leave Stockport railway station at 10:00am, stopping to pick up at Stoke station at approx 11:00 a.m. for onward travel to Caverswall Road station, the home of The Foxfield Railway. The cost of the coach will be subsidised by NW Group but we will be asking for donations of £10 (from Stockport) and £5 (from Stoke). Both amounts include the return journey, departing Caverswall Road station at 4:00pm

There is an excellent buffet, and licensed bar at Foxfield, and lunch has been reserved for 1:30pm. Click here for information on the history of the railway.
