The Railway and Canal Historical Society in holding another Zoom presentation on Saturday, 23rd April, 2022 commencing at 2pm. Details are below. The meeting is open to all. It is likely that it will be recorded so if you miss it you can catch up with it later.

The talk (by Hugh James) will cover the industrialisation of Briton Ferry, its railways, canal and Brunel’s Dock.
Hugh James has been an avid campaigner to save Brunel’s Briton Ferry Dock for over forty years – to protect, restore and preserve the infrastructure that went with it, including Brunel’s rope-operated railway, as a future heritage trail. This railway brought the best Welsh coal from Glyncorrwg in the Afan Valley to Briton Ferry Dock for shipment.
Hugh was born in Briton Ferry, before pursuing a career in media and PR, working for two multi-national companies and the public sector. He is also an artist and has illustrated many scenes on the subject of Brunel’s work and railways. Hugh is currently Chair of the revitalised Briton Ferry Brunel Dock Trust, which is moving forward to restore Brunel’s legacy in Briton Ferry.
