Milford Docks Company

Post by Pembrokelad »

A query has come up about the origins of a former NER 0-6-0T named NEPTUNE by the MDC. Does anyone know what class it was with the NER/LNER, liveries of the MDC would also be helpful.
AJAX a former NER 0-6-0T (later LNER J76) is known about.

The 1951 edition of the Birmingham Locomotive Society booklet ' Industrial Locomotives of South Wales' gives the following information about NEPTUNE:

NEPTUNE, 0-6-0T, Inside cylinders, Robert Stephenson Ltd., 2242/75, ex-WD 103, Catterick, orig NER 973, via Wake, Scr /47
