We are looking to feature Cardiff Central and Newport station’s in the new series. I was hoping you could possibly point me in the direction of somebody who knows about the history of the South Wales Railway?

We would be delighted to help your project. Before passing your request on there are a couple of things I'd like to check:
1. Does your project concern the main South Wales railway (the main line) or is it really about the South Wales Railway (that ceased to exist as a separate company in 1863)?
2. Are you happy for me to distribute your request widely through our organisation or would you prefer to limit the points of contact?
On are purely personal note, I think there are more architecturally interesting structures than those you mention; but that's just personal bias!

When filming these stories, we try and focus on both this history and the architecture of the structures. We are looking to interview the architect of the 2010 Newport Station there, so it would be great to get someone to tell us about the history of Cardiff Central station, as well as its architecture (date built / architect / materials used / architectural style). A brief overview of the main line would also be great.
I am happy for this to be distributed throughout the wider organisation.
We are always welcome to suggestions of fantastic railway architecture – please feel free to recommend anything you feel relevant, even though we may not have time to film it this time around.
