Cambrian51 recently made me aware of the availability of etches for Welsh prototype rolling stock from Redcraft. The 4mm range is shown on the attached price list and he also has 7mm etches for:

B&M saloon
B&M compo
B&M brake 3rd
These are the ones as drawn by T. L. Jones and published in December 1963 MRC.
He also has some of the old PC models etched plates. They have to be cut out and are
uncoloured but might be interesting to scratch builders.

With regard to the B&M Locos I feel duty bound to point out that they similar (same as?) the Lester Kits that were based indirectly on the GW Weight Diagrams and have inherited so of the errors on those diagrams. This means that the 2-4-0T is 6” too narrow and the overall height of the 0-6-0ST scales out at 12’1” rather than the correct 13’0”. No doubt a competent kit builder can sort these errors out but better to know before you go too far.

I find the best way to contact Derek is by e-mail. He operates as a one-man-band and so if he has a soldering iron in one hand and a piece of etch in the other, he finds it difficult to pick up the 'phone.
I am sure that all the kits listed are the old Lester/Redcraft kits dating back to, I believe, the 80s. Apart from the B1 I built all of the Barry locos and the Rhymney K. Needless to say they are not as refined as modern kits but they do look the part with careful building, it is so long ago now that I can't remember the snags. I will contact Derek about the B1 and also check to see if the Barry brake van is available in 4mm as the code suggests 7mm kit.
Just to comment that the TV number plates are brass numbers and black background - I had expected them to be just brass - painted suits me fine! The "111" is the early style of wide band "Taff Vale Railway" around the perimeter and the tender no is also available/ included.
I had a partial kit from Derek via Graham Tierney to build a Taff Vale U or U1. It wasn't that accurate. It was based on the T.L. Jones drawings which contains one or two errors. I finished building the loco 3 years ago since when it has been with Ian Rathbone in his paint shop. I know he is good but nothing is worth that sort of wait.
