Cogan Footbridge

Post by s.w.johnson »

Does anybody know what is happening to the Cogan footbridge. The ex-Barry footbridge is fenced off and what looks like a temporary replacement is being constructed. Hopefully the Barry bridge is to be put back into use. It's far more elegant than anything Network Rail would produce. The castings have Carron Ironworks on them so it is Scottish in origin.

Well that's really interesting.

At the moment the entire deck has been removed, presumably for grit blasting, repainting etc and then replanking.

The steps have now emerged from their cocoon, all shiny new paint, but the deck is still missing.
