The Welsh Government Research Service has produced a 9 page pamphlet on the transition to an all-Wales rail franchise being the sole responsibility of the Welsh Government. It's not exactly brimming with detail but for those interested, it can be found on:

Whisper it quietly but this looks like an exciting period ahead for Welsh railways. We'll know a lot more in a couple of weeks time after the objection period has expired but it does seem that lessons have genuinely been learnt from the last franchise debacle.

All the attention is on South East Wales at the moment because of the dramatic impact of having a Metro. But we should know on June 4th what the detail of the franchise will be for the whole of the country, not just one small part of it. What are your concerns regarding Machynlleth servicing facilities?

If I have understood this correctly, that is 18 trains an hour in each direction through Queen Street and Central. This gives each train just over 3 minutes to unload and load, which is very tight. Are there going to be new platforms?
