If you haven't caught it already, there is a new social history series on BBC2 on Thursdays at 20:00. It's a little bit of a coffee table history but has some very interesting insights regarding the social impact of the railway. Previous editions have looked at the way in which goods were moved by rail and how passengers were moved by rail. This week's edition looks at how the railways changed the nation's diet.
