Be warned of much reduced access at Llandrindod Wells county archive from November 2015. Their notice is below:

Revised Opening Hours from November 2015

Powys Archives is developing new facilities to provide better strongrooms for collections and new and enhanced facilities for visitors. From 2 November 2015 the Archive Service will offer reduced public opening hours to allow staff to prepare the collections for move. The searchroom will be available for bookings between 9.00am-5.00pm every other Friday. Please note booking will be essential. The dates we are open are:

9.00am - 5.00pm, Friday 20 Nov

9.00am - 5.00pm, Friday 4 Dec

9.00am - 5.00pm, Friday 18 Dec

9.00am - 5.00pm, Friday 8 Jan 2016

9.00am - 5.00pm, Friday 22 Jan

9.00am - 5.00pm, Friday 5 Feb

9.00am - 5.00pm, Friday 19 Feb

9.00am - 5.00pm, Friday 4 Mar

9.00am - 5.00pm, Friday 18 Mar
