Disused ststions http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/ provides a potted history, local map and a some pictures of UK stations that have been closed. Some of these are in Wales, but the country isn't that well represented.

This site http://www.robertdarlaston.co.uk/Railways.htm has a number of photos from the '50s and '60s of Welsh interest.

The Ceredigion Archive looks like a useful resource. Its website contains some references to the Manchester and Milford Railway as well as GWR:

Robert Wigley told me this, which I though might be of interest,
  • Every so often I visit the http://www.britainfromabove.org.uk/ internet, site to see if they have added any new images with a railway interest. Normally I look at the LSWR patch but just for a change I typed in Welshpool. I am not sure whether your team have already looked but there are a number of "new" images of the station area, probably taken between the wars.

I also noticed that a couple of the earlier entries of the Town itself, have captured a narrow gauge train weaving its' way amongst the buildings.

I was contacted by Ian Dinmore who runs this web site, there are a large number of early Welsh Railway company documents.

I have just come across this website which contains a few interesting photographs. I haven't seen it mentioned before so might not be well known.

http://www.ourwales.org.uk

I didn't find the search facility particularly easy but try different search terms such as "Railway", "Station", "Halt" or a town name and see what comes up. Also be aware of the copyright notice on the site.

Please share any thoughts on this website.

This site http://www.stationcolours.info/ contains some info on station colours (who'd have thought) and contains some suggestions for colour matches aimed at modellers.

Network Rail are releasing some archive drawings. Not a lot of Welsh material at present but for instance there is the Rhondda Tunnel entrances for R&SB fans.
