Barry Class H 0-8-2T

The Dean Sidings advert in the Warley 2014 Guide describes the first of a new range, which will include a prepared chassis: a Barry Class H 0-8-2T. Hopefully I, and other members going to the Warley Show this year, will be able to see it there. Without too much trouble it could presumably be made to represent a PTR Sharpe, Stewart 0-8-2T.

Dean Sidings have produced kits for a number of Welsh Railway prototypes - I've built one of his Barry 'L' class kits and I think I've got one of his TVR 4-4-2T kits somewhere in the build queue.

Be aware they need a lot of work to get a decent result. Still, good luck to the guy you could never accuse him of being "mainstream"!

I had chance to see an unfinished H at the NEC yesterday and it is of a similar design to other Dean Sidings kits. However this kit will be supplied with a prepared Mehano chassis which does, unfortunately, intrude into the cab. Other fittings are a mixture of white metal and resin. I cannot comment on the accuracy of the dimensions and not having seen a completed model I can only assume that a reasonable loco can be built with care. Obviously the chassis is only suitable for OO.

This kt looked reasonably OK to me. I was told the complete kit will be priced at £140, and will be available shortly.
