The following query has appeared on the Railway Correspondence & Travel Society (RCTS) Forum.

"Many members will know that there was a proposal in the mid-50s to strengthen a few bridges to allow Granges to work down to Aberystwyth from Shrewsbury, but that this idea was dropped. It occurred to me that one reason for the abandonment of the proposal was the improvement in Manor performance after they were redraughted, and that this was considered to make the Grange idea unnecessary. Does anyone know whether this is the case, or have any more information about the episode?"
