Barrie & Lee's Railways of the Sirhowy Valley (1940) refers to such a passenger service, using the Tredegar Jn Lower (= Gelligroes jn) LNW - Sirhowy Jn GW link - apparently in the early years of the 20th century. I can find no trace in a Jan 1906 Bradshaw's Guide, nor in the April 1910 issue. Is there any firm provenance for such a service? And, if so, between what dates, please?

It turns out that this was the GWR's pre-WW1 Newport to Merthyr service about which I have written under the "GWR Newport to Merthyr passenger service" thread on this forum. I hadn't looked carefully enough for it in my 1910 Bradshaw reprint for it is there on page 69! It was withdrawn from 22 March 1915 and never restored (by that route).
