Cambrian 6 ton covered van lettering

I've received this query and thought that it might be beneficial to open it out to the Forum

It has been suggested that although in the ex-works photographs of the 6 ton covered vans, the main lettering appears to have black shading, this shading was omitted at a fairly early stage of their careers.

Does anybody have any thoughts on this? Were the works photos ‘real’ liveries or more like publicity shots? Do photos of the covered wagons in service have discernible shading? Comments or examples appreciated.

Are there any photographs of these vehicles in service?

Chris Basten has added this comment "the shaded lettering was a 'one off' and not applied in general service. I have seen photos with plain white lettering, but also one lettered for service as a road van on the Mid Wales, with specific workings....which of course is shaded"
