Pembroke Coast Express

Post by 0083 »

Can anyone tell me what the 2 crests are on the Headboard please. I believe the one on the left with inverted chevrons is the County of Pembroke when the homeland consisted of 13 proper counties but can any one identify the other? I am hoping to obtain a replica but need the finite details and colours.

Not sure whether you received a reply to this or not but here goes.
You are almost correct in assuming that the creat (or Arms) on the left are the for Pembrokeshire, they are for the Borough of Pembroke and Pembroke Dock which were granted in September 1950.
The Arms on the left were the 'unofficial arms of Tenby Council which were 'officially granted' in August 1963.
In reality, the train ran along the Pembroke & Tenby Railway from Whitland so it was only right to have both Pembroke (left & Tenby (right) on the headboard.
