Hello,
I am in the process (slow) of building a 2mm layout of Llangynog station from mid 1930s (after track relaying) to 1948 when the 2-4-0 Sharp Stewarts were withdrawn. I thought it might be nice to have a model of Lady Margret for the very earliest days of the period. However, I have not yet found an arrangement drawing to use as a basis to create a drawing for an etch. I think I have checked the obvious sources, don't recall a drawing being published in the Railway Modeller and HRMS don't seem to have any drawings listed. Although I have access to side on photographs I could scale from I would prefer a drawing to work from. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

The P&TR had one Sharp Stewart 2-4-0, Pembroke. There is a drawing that I made in the latest Journal in the article about the Locomotives of the Pembroke & Tenby Railway

Many thanks for that lead much appreciated, unfortunately I am after the 2-4-0 tank locomotive built by Andrew Barclay for the Liskeard & Looe, which was rebuilt by GWR and transferred to the Tanat Valley.

Did you mean Lady Margaret?
This is an extract from the instructions for the 7mm kit from Agenoria Models.

There's no scale but you can probably get approximate dimensions by scaling from the known dimensions of the prototype.

I have a number of photos of 1308 too if there's anything that you need pics of.

According to the RCTS Locos of the GWR part 3, Lady Margaret was built by Andrew Barclay, wheelbase 6'+7', leading wheels 2'7½", drivers 4'. On coming to the GWR the leading wheels were 2'8". It was rebuilt in 1929, boiler pitch 6'8¼", diagram U.

That is fantastic information, and makes one of the compromises I was worried about go away. I had thought I had seen something that the leading wheels were 2'6" which is about 5mm diameter in 2mm scale. The closest I could source was 5.25mm diameter which is around 0.1mm (in 2mm terms) under scale to the rebuilt dimensions, I can live with that .
Also thanks for confirming the wheel base and boiler type and centre line.

Hi Rowlie,

Not drawings but there are a number of photographs / postcards at the National Archives for which you can request copies. (The records aren't digitised so presumably it means paper copies through the post.) These include both pre grouping and GWR periods.
