The Keith Montague book about the private owner wagons constructed by the Gloucester RCW Co carries a fascinating picture of a 10-ton box van built in 1874 for Garth and Co of Rhiwderin. Unfortunately the caption under the picture (Plate 224) gives no indication of its livery. Does anybody know its colour scheme?

I could make a guess at the livery; but I won't until I make of model of it!

Thinking of modelling, does anyone know how Gloucester measured the height of the van? I presume the measurements are internal, as was their normal practice, but was the height to the top of the door, top of the side, underside of the roof supports (max or min),... ?

I don't know, but for my model I'm going to paint it buff and wait to be proved wrong!
