This 3-image panorama came with a note stating Cwmavon 1890s. I can accept the date, but it is obviously not Cwmavon. But where is it? My uninformed guess is Swansea.
Readily identifiable wagons are William Perch; Ocean; Davie, Swansea; Cribbwr, Tondu; Ffaldau Colliery Co. The writing on the girder bridge states “Watkins: For Printing Account Books: 4&5 Rutland Street.” The over size is 22.5 x 5.5in.

Wonderful photographs, which capture the desolation of the copper industry landscape! I believe that they are all views in Swansea, taken about 1 mile north of the High Street station. The vantage point is the huge waste mound to the west of the line, with the trestle viaduct giving access to it. One view shows the Morfa and Hafod copper works. The road going under the bridge is Neath Road, and the minor road is access to the copper works. The viaduct in the background is near Landore station.

I think they are all on the west side of the Tawe. Photo 1 is fairly easy to place. The view is looking roughly north east. In the foreground is the GWR main line with Landore viaduct in the background. The line further back is the GWR branch to Morriston and points north. The other two I can't place other than to say they are not works served by the Swansea Vale Railway so that's why I think they are west of the Tawe. My best guess would be the chimneys belong to the Hafod works.

Thank you. Please don’t overlook the fact that these three images are mounted side-by-side fan-like so that when opened out they create a continuous panorama. As indicated in my first post, the overall length is too great to allow the whole to be scanned as a one-off or to be published as such. It’s a pity I cannot get to the AGM this year so that all those interested could pour over it.

The Vivian's works was to the south of Landore so if these are a panorama, do two and three to the left of one? If yes that makes sense in terms of the works being the Hafod. Also I corrected my earlier post. Image one is looking north east or even north, north east.

No, they go in order Cwmavon11, Cwmavon22, Cwmavon33, left to right. The Cwmavon is obviously wrong, but that is what they had when I received them!
