He everyone, a query that might prove difficult to answer. I'm just completing an EM model of one of the CC1 S&T tool vans. It is based on DW15000, which was stabled for some time around 1969/70 opposite platform 1 at Cardiff General.

The withdrawal date for only one of the CC1 vans was officially recorded (DW14996 in 1960). Did anyone happen to record the withdrawals of the other three (DW14995/14999/15000)? DW14999 is of particular interest as my layout is set in Port Talbot so, if it lasted long enough, would be a better candidate than DW15000. I'm trying to find out before I get the transfers out!

The GWR’s Pilot and Tool Van Register lists in some detail all these CC1 vans but regrettably does not give withdrawal dates. This problem seems to stem from the fact that BR(WR) scrapped most of these long-lived vehicles without much thought as to record keeping.
If John Lewis does not reply to your post, I suggest you contact him privately by email; he has a vast amount of the sort of info you are seeking.
Since your model is set in Port Talbot you might be interested to know that the Register lists a number of Pilot Vans assigned to that area. If so, contact me privately and I will compile the data for them.
