Ancient cattle van

Does anyone know the origins of the ancient looking cattle van on the end of this passenger train at Barmouth taken in July 1957. I don't know what the four wheeled carriage is either.

I think I am right in saying the cattle van is early LMS, built to a very late MR design. Slater's do a model kit, certainly in 7mm.

I think the coach looks like lot 582 built 1891 according to the information on page 56 of Russell's Pictorial Record of GWR Coaches part 1.
Confirmation might come from Richard Spratt's work (
http://www.gwrcoaches.org.uk/ ) but this currently seems to be unavailable.

The coach looks very much like a T31 with shortened footboards.

The coach is one in engineers dept. service. There are photographs of it at Barmouth in the goods yard.

The coach was originally built as a T49, lost the guard’s duckets in the 1920s reclassified diagram T50. To a camping coach in 1938. When it was transferred to Engineering use is not recorded.
PS the web address got a subtle change when I went secure. If anyone knows how to get the old domain name pointing at the new one I’d love to know.

Searching online will produce plenty of guidance but, essentially, you need to maintain the ‘old’ domain for some time until users have been made aware of the change. Anyone entering the ‘old’ domain name or clicking on an outdated link should both be redirected and
told that they’ve been redirected to make them aware of the change. Securing a website is a very worthwhile action but the consequences need to be considered from the outset.
