passenger statistics by station

The following request came in to the Circle - it's gone to our line superintendent for an expert reply but I wondered if anyone can advise on where to look for such information for other locations and time periods.
Good morning,
I am writing a dissertation for my Welsh history module with the Open University and I am studying the town of Penarth between c.1850-1914. I understand that the Penarth Extension Line was provided in 1879 and I am interested in finding out passenger usage and how it changed between its opening and 1914.
The annual reports and returns I have managed to find online all seem to include the figures for the Penarth Town extension line and the Penarth Harbour and Dock branch in with the Taff Vale Railway figures. They are not displayed separately.
I am wondering if you know if the figures for passenger usage of the Penarth Town station are obtainable, and if so where do I go to obtain them? I have spent many hours searching but so far I haven’t had any luck!
