Can anyone put a more specific date than '1872' (from Jones & Dunstone's Vale of Neath Line (Gomer Press)) to the date of the last regularly advertised broad gauge passenger service (stated to have be a daily round trip Aberdare - Swansea Wind Street).
This (the authors state) represented the last regular passenger use of Brunel's original dead-ended VoN passenger station at Aberdare, it thereafter being given over to goods. Standard gauge passenger service had, since 5 Oct 1864, used the new through platform (later doubled when the broad gauge was removed).
