Interesting that LNWR traffic for Glyntaff was to be detached at Aber Junc (from where I guess the RR would have had to work it to Penrhos Junc for the ADR to pick it up) rather than at Caerphilly where the ADR could have collected it as was done for any other traffic for the ADR. I wonder if traffic in the reverse direction, eg from Brown Lennox, would have been worked similarly.

Thanks Tim that’s exactly what I need to know. Does M, S or MS mean except Monday etc?

The 1924 GWR WTT shows a LMS coal train terminating at Caerphilly at 6:20am and a LMS goods train starting from Caerphilly at 7:10am

Does coal from Sirhowy to Cardiff get mentioned in the LNWR WTT?

I thought MX was Mondays excepted. But I guess different companies had their different ways.

The LNWR timetable annotations were:
C - conditional
M - Mondays excepted
S - Saturdays excepted (and so on for other days of the week)
MO - Mondays excepted (and so on for other days)
X - stops when required

My mistake!
MO means 'only' and not 'excepted'.

(I must concentrate more!)

The pages for Nantybwch, Sirhowy, Tredegar and Newport services show no LNW mineral trains south of Nine Mile Point.
