There are a couple of illustrations in the Archive volume II no Nov 1999 pages 236 and 237 that clearly show the steam pipes above the footplate.
Under the footplate I assume they would not have been altered from Mersey days and so would be like on Cecil Raikes.

I assume however that these outside pipes are the exhaust rather than live steam because of the connections to the condensing system.

Since that was written I've found a GA drawing for the loco as delivered to the Mersey so I can try to make a better attempt next time. (I'll also need a better bogie design as my current one prefers ballast over rails!)
