Just found the attached leaflet of an impending auction of a locomotive at the Rhymney Railway's Cardiff fitting shed. As the locomotive is described as a passenger engine, built in 1858 and is No.7 then I presume this belonged to the Rhymney Railway, but I could be wrong.
As far as I can see their No.7 survived to be rebuilt in 1880 and was condemned in 1895.
Two questions really. Firstly, assuming it was Rhymney's No.7, why did they need to sell the locomotive in 1867 (the Distress for Poor Rate note suggests it was to pay off a debt) and secondly what happened to enable them to retain the locomotive?

That's a very interesting flyer.
The RR wasn't above renumbering its locos - was the No 7 that was rebuilt in 1880 necessarily the same loco?
