ROSS & MONMOUTH RAILWAY 1879 - LOCOMOTIVES

Postby diamond » Tue Oct 30, 2018 4:38 pm

The Ross & Monmouth Railway which opened in 1873 was operated from the beginning by the GWR.

In April/May 1879 did the GWR locomotive stock include engines nos. 837 and 1439 ?

If so what was their type and wheel arrangement and in which class were they? They would have been stationed at Ross on Wye to work trains to Monmouth and Pontypool Road..

Yes.
0-4-2T of 517 class.

Richard Spratt has made a model of a particularly Welsh member of the class.
