A selection of railway videos

Postby Wagonworks_andy » Fri Apr 17, 2020 1:42 pm

I have added a new page to the web site with a selection YouTube videos. http://wrrc.org.uk/video.php
If you know of any others that members may like to view in this time of social distancing please email me the details.
They could be of preserved railways, model railways, or of historical interest.

Great - I've never prev found
I have colour video files of "Cab Rides 9" containing Barry-Cardiff-Merthyr, 80 mins, Coryton- Cardiff-Penarth 32 mins, Swansea to Carmarthen, 52 mins.
1st Generation DMU time, about 1975. I have attempted to locate the supplier but failed and I've never seen another copy. Filmed during run-down time - i'd have been much happier with say 1955. No comment apart from driver/cameraman chat.
any use?

Rob Foot, our esteemed Newsletter editor, pointed me in the direction of this

Gwyn Jones - A 1907 train ride along the North Wales coast https://m.facebook.com/100006214517759/videos/2022749291275535/.

Thoroughly recommended

The "Railways in south Wales" video is actually part of a longer BFI film - "Every Valley" -made by the BTC film unit. There are no more railway shots, but a lot of buses and various general views; despite the captions it is not all Pontypridd. The full version may be of interest https://player.bfi.org.uk/free/film/watch-every-valley-1957-online. There are a number of other films also currently available free accessible via the same page, including a trip from Swansea Victoria to Pontarddulais in 1964 https://player.bfi.org.uk/free/film/watch-swansea-victoria-pontardulais-railway-1964-june-1964-online in colour.
