Coach boards for Ports to Ports Express

Postby stephebm » Sat Feb 06, 2016 9:29 pm

Having received roofboards for my new Hornby Collet coaches, does anybody know how, at any date from the early 1900s onwards, the roofboards went:

Newcastle or Hull (coaches from both)
Sheffield
Nottingham
Leicester
Banbury
Cheltenham
Newport
Cardiff
Penarth (for a time)
Barry
Swansea

Rather too long overall for the standard GWR fonts; which were left out? Or was it just "Ports to Ports Express?" Or, sadly, paper labels in windows?
The alternate working gives me an excuse for my Grandsons LNER stock!

Regards

There is an article in the GWR Journal No.45 page 274.
In it there is a paragraph about the roof boards "GW boards displayed 'South Wales Ports, Sheffield, York and Newcastle-on-Tyne".
Hope that may help.
